First Guests Arrive at Painton Caravan Park

More grass laying this evening resulted in the camping field at the caravan park being ready to receive its first guests.

So far 3 families have arrived; one with a caravan, one with a camper van and another family with a large trailer which, I presume, contains a large tent.

The reception building is also now in place. Just need to sweep all that grass off the road!

More Caravan Progress

I've started building the caravan underframes this lunchtime. They're made up from tinned copper wire bent to shape and soldered together. 2 down, 4 to go!

The underframes have now been sprayed black and superglued to the underside of the first 2 caravans. Note that some of the caravans will be internally illuminated - hence the green and black wires.

In position on the layout, final jobs will be to 'level' them using cardboard breeze blocks and then add steps.

Painton Caravan Site Update

Following the ground works to 'level out' the caravan site the grass has now been relaid and the caravans have been temporarily sited. I still need to construct the underframes and then get them to sit level.

Reconditioned Tardis

I finished the tardis at the weekend. The first image shows the 'as arrived ' condition with several bubbles in the moulding. These were filled, followed by a re-paint and finally some suitable windows and signs applied.

Streets Ahead

A couple of areas of progress this evening. Firstly I've put down a layer of pollyfilla where the road will be as a base surface. This will be smoothed and then painted.

The 5 buildings on the following photo are now all complete. Only 1more house left to build.

Also some progress around the caravan park. After much deliberation I've decided the groundwork was not sufficiently flat to look right, so I've laid out corrugated card in the relevant areas. The large rectangle on the right is the static caravan field, smaller square is the camping field and then a couple of roads linking it all up.

Once this was all in place a fresh layer of pollyfilla soaked sheets to form the landscape. When this has dried they'll be a mammoth grass laying session!
